About Wild Things Art Classes
Helen Ollivier
Helen Ollivier graduated from Elam School of Fine Arts with a degree majoring in painting. She has since had a strong career as a practising artist, exhibiting her work in multiple solo exhibitions at the Parnell Gallery in Auckland. Helen is an expert in the creative process as it relates to visual arts. Her finished works are often multi-layered and use motifs transposed across idioms. Her work hangs in collections throughout New Zealand and overseas and has been published in two volumes of NZ Art Today. In 1993 she achieved the top scholar award for painting nationwide in her final year of high school.
In recent times she has also been raising four children who are now 14, 15, 17 and 20. This new focus has lead to many years of experience with children’s art projects and a keen awareness of creative development in children. She believes strongly in the ability of imaginative and creative work to develop the brain in a way that benefits all areas of learning. All of her programmes have been created with the knowledge and understanding of this creative process and respect for individuality in children.
