Windsor Park Stud - Leamington

Windsor Park Stud, is located a few minutes drive from the township of Cambridge, New Zealand, in the heart of some of the best thoroughbred breeding country in the world.

In 1998 and 2001 Windsor Park Stud was honoured for its achievements by the New Zealand thoroughbred industry when receiving the prestigious New Zealand Breeder Of The Year award.

In 2010 Windsor Park has again been honoured, receiving the Mercedes 'Breeder of the year' title for the third time as a result of breeding Victoria Derby winner Monaco Consul, New Zealand Derby winner Military Move, Hong Kong Gr.1 winner Beauty Flash and South African Gr.1 winner Gold Onyx. This remarkable achievement consolidates the stud's proven record of producing elite Group One winners on the race-tracks of New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong and South Africa. 

The famed Waikato region of New Zealand provides a year round environment that has enabled Windsor Park Stud to successfully breed and raise great thoroughbred racehorses for more than 30 years. 

Windsor Park Stud is owned by Nelson and Sue Schick and their son Rodney, who manages the day to day operations on the farm.  Major expansion has seen the purchase of neighbouring farms so that the main Kaipaki Road farm of Windsor Park now totals over 500 acres.

With the purchase of the 300 acre Halidon Hill farm just east of Cambridge in 1993, the current Windsor Park operation encompasses more than 1300 acres of prime farm land on three separate properties.

Windsor Park is acknowledged as one of Australasia's leading thoroughbred nurseries and provides excellent all-year round facilities for its horses with a carefully worked out farm management programme which ensures maximum pasture utilisation. 

Located on the main Windsor Park farm at Kaipaki Rd, Cambridge, are the stud's office, stallions, facilities for foaling and safe, quiet paddocks for mares, foals and yearlings. 
 Halidon Hill is a nearby property, twenty minutes drive from Windsor Park, which is utilised for spelling racehorses, wintering in-foal mares, growing out yearlings and for broodmares and foals over the later months of the breeding season. In 1990/91 Star Way won the prestigious Dewar Stallion Award for the Champion N.Z. based Australasian Sire.

In the 2001/02, 2002/03, 2003/04, 2004/05, 2005/06, 2006/2007, 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons Volksraad won the prestigious Grosvenor Award for N.Z.'s Champion Sire, who we sadly lost a couple years ago.  Thorn Park also won the Grosvenor Award in the following season of 2010/11.

For three decades the Windsor Park Stud name and S brand has been synonomous with many of the finest racehorses produced in Australasia and further afield. Dual Australian Horse of The Year and World Champion Stayer, Might And Power is a classic example of the type of high-class international performer bred by Windsor Park Stud over the years.
