★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Walked it yesterday, very muddy and in need of serious maintenance. Trees fallen over track not removed and stair structures good but lacking gravel to fill the treads. Lack of sign posts confusing. From the Manuka Road connection, things improve, but track still in need of maintenance. Traffic noise is intrusive despite being in level 3 lock-down

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great little nature walk, if you don't mind a bit of traffic noise from road, its really easy to walk and beautiful creek running through. Very very muddy this time of year, wear good shoes and be careful!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hidden gem. Had always want to visit this reserve, and grateful we did today. It was raining the day before, however the ground was not muddy, it is well maintained. This walk can connect to Glendu reserved which may take up to 3.5 hours return.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A lovely, shaded short bushwalk alongside stream under full bush cover, with a bit of dappled light from time to time. Mostly short flights of stairs interspersed with stretches of gravel and boardwalk. .
Accessibility: not suitable for wheelchairs, prams or bikes. A 1m or so wide path suitable for single file only. One rest stop (bench) about 4min from Glenfield entrance.
Route: forks not signposted. From Valecrest Place entrance, keep right at both forks to stay on the track (first one leads to Noelleen St, second to Kaipatiki Rd). Opposite way leaving from Glenfield entrance.
Time: 20min at a moderate pace, 40min return.
Parking: on street parking at the cul-de-sac at 16 Valecrest Rd entrance, very little parking from Glenfield entrance although there may be some at Fernlea Rise.
Dogs: on-leash only, as bait and traps set.
Recreational value: tree ferns and tui, traffic hum, a perfect small urban bush walk.
Recovering native bush, with mature tī tree, tree ferns and nīkau, tītoki, whauwhaupaku, tānekaha, mātipo, māhoe and coprosma adorned by rātā and kiekie. Introduced rosella and other pests such as tradesantia and pine trees.
NB: due to the bush cover and nearby stream, mosquitos may find you if stopping for any length of time.
