A cool new family-run business is set to freshen up New Plymouth.
YoGet, a frozen yoghurt shop, has opened on Devon St West.
The business is run by sisters Bella, 22 and Molly McCallum, 24, who set up shop with the help of their parents Sue Carrington and David McCallum.
Next door to Pita Pit, which is also run by the family, YoGet offers self-service frozen yoghurt with an enormous choice of different toppings.
If you are keen to cool down, but not bulk up, Bella, who manages the shop, thinks it is the way to go.
"It's healthier than ice cream, the yoghurts are all 97 to 99 per cent fat free."
The sisters said the idea was for it to be a fun place to people hang out and eat yoghurt.
Connected to Pita Pit, it would be easy to have a healthy pita for tea and finish it off with yoghurt for dessert. The opening hours of the two eateries will be the same.
Bella and Molly came up with the idea for YoGet in April and said the best part of the experience so far had been choosing the toppings.
"We had a lot of fun taste testing the lollies. We went to every supplier in New Zealand," Bella said.
They said they enjoyed the experience of seeing it all come together - from their vision in April to the shop's opening.
"It was good to be able to decide how we wanted everything," said Molly.
