Area 41 is a newly renovated restaurant, cafe & bar, and we have a passion for traditional Italian meals, with a twist.
We offer a variety of breakfasts, pizzas, pastas, risottos, Italian mains and decadant desserts, as well as set menus and platters for any occasion.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hearty portions and amazing flavors. We tried the eggs Benedict with beef carpaccio for sides and the fungi pasta with chicken & truffle oil. Well balanced flavors and beautiful space. The flat whites were served with yummy edible chocolate spoons, a nice surprise! Excellent staff too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went to this restaurant when it first opened and recommended it to absolutely everyone and went there all the time, as more years go by the place gets worse unfortunately. I made an online booking and received my confirmation to then get told it doesn’t exist, my friend ordered the pork salad and it had 4 tiny pieces of pork and the rest of the plate was a packet of rocket salad, the waiter dropped all of our plates over me and they smashed under my chair - I was fine with this and got asked if I was okay twice, but was not offered anything for the bad experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dinner was lovely although I got served the wrong dish. I asked for the spaghetti con pollo e pesto and my dish turned up as fusilli con pollo e fungi. It was lovely dish but a little disappointed I didn't get what I asked for. I prob should have said something but smelt good so stuck with it. They were very busy due to it being a public holiday and managed to get us the last table. The garlic bread pizza was a little dry but okay.. we also got overcharged on the dinner by $6.00 which isn't alot but it is on a tight budget.
Overall okay food tasted great maybe just a little care on what people are ordering

The food on the large plates was small.
Charges 10% service charge but no clear signage.
Wanted to support the local area so came twice. The first time was on 2 January as the Goole map showed it was open, but when we arrived it was closed.
This was my first visit to New Plymouth and found many excellent restaurants, but not this one.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Huge menu including great choice for vegetarians, plenty of seating, central location in a heritage building, exquisite presentation and delicious presentation…..what more can one ask for!
There is only one problem- to make the decision on what to order.
I had a few different dishes shared between a few of us. Each one was delectable, and different from the usual stuff. “What’s different?” - you might ask. Why not try it the next time you are in New Plymouth?!
