★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was quoted $120 for a mower hire, when i turned up to pick it up it turned out it was $210 - the $120 was the next line on their pricelist and I had been misquoted. I bit the bullet and paid the extra, but so wish I had walked away. Their cheap chinese zero turn mower stopped working. The deck came off the cheap chain as it went over a mound on a low cut and the blades stopped turning. I took it back and told him it was broken and got shouted at! I said I had paid $210 and hadn't even got a day out of it (was 2 day hire), he told me they would be billing me for the machine. What a bully, he wouldn't have shouted at a man I'm sure! I took the photos into the office lady, she asked me to email them to her, which I did, and I have heard nothing since. No refund either. Had previously used their cub cadet mower with no problem, but you know what they say - you get what you pay for. A hire company should not be buying cheap chinese tatt!

I emailed to book a large trailer to move a car and some parts about a week before I needed it. I hadn’t had a response for 2 days so I called and was told they hadn’t seen my email so I booked it in over the phone and gave them all my details including email and phone number. I arrived to pick it up and was told that trailer isn’t going anywhere as it has no wof. When asked why I wasn’t informed they said they didn’t even know it was booked to go out. After talking to the manager I was told the same. Wasn’t even offered a similar trailer. So I had to use my small trailer to get the parts and pay $840 plus gst for a tow truck to pick up the car as it had to be moved that day. Keep clear of 73 hire and use Academy Hire Rolleston or Hirepool!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The most lovely people, met and debt with a lovely lady called Catherine, she was lovely welcoming and very helpful. Amazing range of equipment and in great order. We hired a log splitter and it was great for what we needed and reasonably priced.
Would highly recommend??
