Abel Odor Ltd - Aro Valley
About Abel Odor Ltd
When winemaker meets master perfumer
The year was 2011, the location was Amsterdam, Abel founder and former winemaker, Frances Shoemack was searching for a truly natural perfume and came up short. Soon after, the idea for Abel was born. Fellow New Zealander, Master Perfumer Isaac Sinclair became Shoemacks’ first ally in the quest to disrupt an industry that didn’t believe natural perfume could be chic, modern, or stand up alongside the world’s best. A decade has since passed, Abel, now based in Wellington New Zealand is sold in 33 countries globally, to much acclaim. The Abel team has grown and so too has the collection - albeit at an organic pace. Abel’s mission, while remaining steadfast, has also grown. No longer satisfied with making the world’s best natural perfume, they are driven to have a positive impact both on the environment and the community.

β β β β β I read about Abel Odor βPink Iris eau de perfumeβ in the NZ Herald VIVA magazine in February and loved the description of this natural perfume as contemporary floral, so was keen to try in person before adding it to my current Abel Odor favourites - White Vetiver and Grey labdanum.
So when I was in Wellington recently I popped into Abel's new 'Fabriek' in Aro Street - it was so great to see the open space set-up where the perfumes are made, along with an area set aside to smell the full Abel range and learn more about them. Which I did. It was nice and helpful to get in-person advice from the team and be able to buy on the spot.
I also really loved learning about their initiative to donate 1% of total sales of Pink Iris to the Plastic Soup Foundation (a non-profit organisation, which aims to address the threat and impact of plastic pollution in our oceans.
If you're in Wellington I highly recommend popping in!

β β β β β So glad I discovered this amazing new spot in Aro Valley. Before chatting with Frances and her team, I didn't realise that perfume isn't natural and am so appreciative of their expert advice to help me find my new favourite scent - one that isn't harmful to me or the environment.
Make sure you visit this hidden gem next time you're in Aro Valley or Wellington!
