Call centre people are nice but others inside that manage seem to have very poor skills.

I had the best experience with acc in New Zealand after suffering moderate concussion 2 months ago. I was dealing with two very helpful and capable case managers who exceeded my expecations in every way :-). Thank you guys for all your help during my recovery, you are doing awesome work.

ACC is not a very good social healthcare system to deal with at all. ACC ALLOWS abuses to go on by case managers or managers to clients without any monitoring. And when you make a complaint about any oversights, abuses or mistreatment, ACC WILL NOT do anything except say they are doing something on paper and never get back to you nor make the changes you requested. If you have these types of issues then it is best to fill out a 709 form and submit it by email and give them 20 days to rectify the situation or consult with the Ombudsman after the 20 days. If you are a resident, PR or Citizen and you do not have private insurance or insurance that covers you for the injury, ACC is supposed to cover you. BUT THEY DO NOT COVER EVERYTHING AND CAN PICK AND CHOOSE BASED ON IF THEY LIKE YOU OR DO NOT LIKE YOU. ITS A BIASED SYSTEM FOR SURE. The NZ police are the same. MOST THE CASE MANAGERS AND STAFF HAVE NO MEDICAL EDUCATION OR BACKGROUND AND DO MAKE DECISIONS for your behalf. WHEN AN INJURY GETS SERIOUS LATER ON, THEY CAN CLAIM YOU HAVE DEGENERATION OR THAT IT WAS PREEXISTING ETC. TO NOT COVER YOU. BE SURE YOU HAVE MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE ABOUT YOUR ISSUE AND ALWAYS STAY ON TOP OF THEM BEFORE THE MAKE DECISIONS- KEEP GOING TO YOUR GP. THEY WILL OFTEN MAKE DECISIONS BEHIND YOUR BACK WITHOUT TELLING YOU. THEY OFTEN WILL NOT TELL YOU OR OFFER YOU INFORMATION THAT CAN HELP YOUR CASE and you often find it out through someone else. ACC is not the organisation you think it is and they are out to cut budgets and spending where they can and they can favour clients over others to help them and they can try to make things harder for you if they want to even with an injury. Most the staff are not very educated and there is high employment turnover. They also have managers who are bullies and defend their bullying. WE WANT UNBIASED, EQUAL AND FAIR TREATMENT BY ACC and better educated staff would be a first start next to improving their processes and services as well as getting better access and coverages. Ask 4 ACC agents the same question and you will probably get 4 different answers but you should not.

Terrible customer service. Will be writing an official complaint to the health and disability commissioner. I have had a broken back and recent hip surgery relating to an accident and now I’m trying to get a rehab physio program and they closed my file weeks ago without advising me or following up. How is that even legal?? I have also been waiting 12months for my accomodation reimbursement because I couldn’t fly due to a punctured lung. ACC is meant is to help and dont follow up or commit to promised they make. Definitely not complying with the health rights us citizens are paying for in levy’s and deserve. So sad.

Make yourself familiar with the ACC legislation, do not let them doop you, it is our suggestion to avoid the Ombudsmen, and the Disability Commision to avoid further heartaches. Get counsel through Private insurance advocates and or other counsel dept in NZ. Have faith gather and document medical evidence as this is what will win your claim and speak for you. Expect delays with these persons. Always remain calm but firm. Update: Have tried to get ACC to reverse a IAS decision the backdrop in early 2021 a incorrect ACC 554 certificate was filled out by Huakina Pukekohe for a right shoulder injury "covered" by ACC dating back to 2005. This form was meant to be filled out by a Doctor instead a nurse filled out the ACC 554 certificate in mid 2021. When she filled out this ACC 554 certificate she also filled out the form incorrectly. As the form was filled out incorrectly the way she filled out the certificate also would ensure later that my application for a independance lump sum would be declined in early 2022. Not only this the nurse also at the time in mid 2021 was not authorised to produce the certificate only Doctors are. My counsel then advised on the changes needed to the ACC 554 cert. Then in early 2022 a doctor from Whanau Te Ora in Papatoetoe agreed to amend the wrong ACC 554 certificate and correct those things that would allow me to apply for the IAS lump sum. These changes where approved by the Doctor and then a second certificate produced in early 2022. When i then contacted ACC client manager to have the old certificate replaced she Sonia did the opposite applied the first incorrect certificate. This led to the IAS application being declined by the claims dept who applied the first incorrect certificate. We then contacted the ACC disputes dept to try to have them fix the problem by applying the second ACC 554 certificates by emailing them as attachments but instead they have said my emails did not have the documents atttached when they clearly where. This is why this department has earnt there name "The evil coorperation". We will forge on. In there reply email complaints ACC have not put there client manager name on the email so we cannot ID them for posterity.
