The staff were very friendly and helpful. They looked after my furniture really well over a long period of time. They communicated in an effective manner.

Needed to get a piano from A-B within the South Island. I wasn’t fussy about the time frame (just when they could combine with another job), but it was done in good time and felt the price was fair. Thanks to the Simon & Silvia at the Dunedin branch for arranging.

There were significant delays in getting a quote arranged and agreeing on a final price. However, the actual move went smoothly and the moving staff were great to deal with. Got to say we were a little surprised to see the checking process, etc was still very much paper based and seemed quote time consuming. Other competitors were using tablets / technology and this meant their quotes were received the day after their visit. On the whole we would recommend Allied Pickfords but would like to see the quoting process a bit more streamlined so you're not waiting so long for quotes.

I wanted some specific types of boxes to help pack some items myself when shifting. The 'Dunedin' number wasn't answered for ages and I left a message to call me back. When nothing was received for a long time, I rang again and this time got through...to Melbourne, Australia!! The lady did offer to call Dunedin for me and put me through, but when she tried she came back on and said they were talking on the phone at the moment and could she just give me their direct number? I said of course. She gave me the number (which was written down correctly!) and upon ringing...it wasn't busy, it was disconnected! At least thats the signal I was receiving. Annoyed somewhat now, I decided to see if there was another close branch that could tell me if the Dunedin branch had a new phone number they were operating under, and there was one in Invercargill. I rang THAT number and was pleased to hear it ringing...alas, it went through to a voice recording and again I left a message for them to get back to me. Hours later I am still waiting! I will no longer be using any services of this firm if they now do get back in touch (not that I'm expecting them to!) I consider the whole thing handled terribly and unprofessionally and will be going elsewhere.

The movers were great, very friendly and helpful. The owner of the branch on the other hand, was terribly unhelpful and took no responsibility for delays, damage caused to my furniture. It cost in excess of 10k and the owner simply did not want to know about our concerns. Will not be using Allied Dunedin again.

Excellent team. Started out at 5am for a three hour drive upcountry. Very hard working, polite and really helpful all through. Unloaded at a really tricky address without complaint and worked swiftly without any fuss. Obliging whenever we asked something particular, like stacking boxes in rows so we could see the content labels. I would use them again and highly recommend the Dunedin team. Simon the team manager taught us how to pack items securely and never quibbled when we asked for more boxes or packing paper.

While a cheap service, be prepared to wait a long time to get furniture. Communication has been poor, no replies to some emails, forgetting to call me back when asked. Currently been waiting 2 months for a bed from Dunedin to Auckland that I was told would be UP TO 4 weeks. Failed to communicate with me that they don't have enough containers to transport items. Would have been nice to know this from the start as I would have chosen another company. I had to call them for updates which you would think would be their job to keep their customers in the loop. I don't believe anything they say about delivery dates now, no confidence that they'll even be able to deliver for the next month either. Pay for what you get in my opinion. I do understand that covid has slowed down transport immensely but they have not communicated this with me at all so have given me false hope from the get go. Go somewhere else and pay the extra price.
