About Us
Animal Lodge Boarding Kennels and Cattery, located in Hamilton, Waikato is locally owned and operated by Rick and Elena Stephens.
We are the new owners of The Animal Lodge since February 2021 and have big shoes to fill after taking over from Sharon who after 20 years has retired.
We have been around dogs for over 50 years from Farm dogs to breeding registered Labrador Gun Dogs. We are very excited to move into this venture with plenty of energy to make your pets stay a pleasant experience.
Here at Animal Lodge Boarding Kennels and Cattery, your pets will be cared for in homely environments and looked after by experienced and loving staff.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our shy rescued puppy is an interesting prospect...when stressed she gets aggressive but the staff here have shown understanding and a clear to gave integrated her into their "doggy daycare" program successfully. She appears to love going there and comes home happy and exhausted.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We’ve used many catteries (both stand-alone and attached to vets) in Hamilton and Canterbury. This would be the worst. The biggest red flag is how unhappy the staff were about us taking our cat to her cage and then seeing her at her cage on pick up. The staff tried to tell us we would need to fill out OSH paperwork and that going to the cages was invite only. The male staff member absolutely did not want me to see the cages on pick up. He would not let me touch her, enforcing that he would put her in her cage. All of the staff were not wearing masks on drop off and pick up, they hadn’t read the booking notes, and had a dog in the back section of the cattery which was separate from the cats by a wire gate. This place might be fine for dogs, but don’t send a cat here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've taken my dog to another day care and he was terrified of the other dogs. He wasn't as socialized as I thought he would be so I discovered this place that has an absolute talent when it comes to settling animals in. She's like a dog whisperer. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As you always are when you take your fur baby somewhere new, I was nervous. But the owners and staff are so welcoming and my dog enjoyed his stay so much we've booked into daycare on a regular basis.
