About Aro Valley Preschool
Our Teaching Philosophy
We believe that tamariki learn best through play-based experiences.
Te Whāriki, our early childhood curriculum is embedded in all areas of our teaching practice, and we work to ensure that we align with the vision that all tamariki are competent and confident learners. We want all tamariki to be healthy in their minds, bodies and spirits and to have a great sense of belonging in our preschool.
We respect tikanga Māori, Te Reo Māori and kaupapa Māori and weave these into our daily routines and practices. We acknowledge Māori as tangata whenua of Aotearoa New Zealand.
We love our multicultural community of whānau and work hard to ensure respectful practices for everyone we have the privilege of working alongside.
Our teachers come from a variety of different experience and our teaching pedagogy is inspired by a wide variety of theories and studies. Our teaching practices are based around respect for everyone within our community, manaakitanga – warm and welcoming, caring for all, a passion for ongoing learning and building trusting relationships.
