★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It has all of the necessities, but I wouldn't want to stay for more than one night. I called about a week in advance to cancel my booking with the refund but I could not get in touch with anyone. I called multiple times and left a message, we didnt want to lose our deposits so we stayed here anyways.
The kitchen and outside area were nice, clean and cozy. But it was crowded and hard to get comfortable in the other lounge areas. The rooms felt damp and stuffy as well.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not very clean kitchen. Taking a shower was almost impossible as the shower heads are super low. Also lots of hair in the sink. They should change their name as there live almost only old people and no backpackers. Lots of weird people, snorting into the kitchen sink and stuff. Weird!

Bathroom and kitchen were both not very clean either. I didn't feel very safe in this hostel as a solo female traveler. I've stayed in many other hostels over the last 6 months and never felt unsafe before this stay. The other guest in my dorm didn't lock the door after coming back into the room and someone decided to try and come into our room at 11.30pm while we were sleeping which made me feel very uncomfortable too. Although our door should have been locked it was very unsettling to wake up to someone at the door in the middle of the night.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Kinda smelt bad in the kitchen which was also messy, guy smoking a bong out the back, bathroom felt dirty and there where dead sandflies on my bed. Didn't quite feel that safe or comfortable here unfortunately.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ More a halfway house than a hostel. Loud techno music blasting from a room all night, empty bourbon cans and food plates under my bed, my "roomie" made the room smell like alcohol and stale BO that I couldn't not clear with the window open all night. Kitchen floor covered in soggy newspaper to stop the old fridge leaking everywhere. Door out back is left open and unlocked, considering there is a homeless shelter within 2 blocks that's not safe... I left after one night due to not feeling comfortable staying there with expensive luggage. Paid for 4 days, stayed one and refused a refund. To all international visitors this is not a hostel like you would be used to, and I suggest looking elsewhere. This place needs done up and sorted out badly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Watch out this hostel, they will change the price or cancel your booking as they want. I booked online and they force us cancel as they might think price is too cheap for that period (border open or wrong price I am not sure). I check the other website again and they rise the price nearly double of that, no matter you putting wrong price or wrong timing of that price. I just want to say, this is not honer as your behavior. We are going to contact consumer NZ.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I stayed for two nights; pleasant hostel at this price. The location is perfect. Amiable and helpful staff. Saw a notice that they banned smoking on the premise from 1st June onwards; excellent decision! They need to make other guests follow the kitchen usage policy so that other guests clean the communal areas after their turn.
