★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Well this is a sad review the establishment is beautiful staff were lovely and very polite. But unfortunately the food is highly over priced and very average we paid top dollar($42) x6 for what was said to be a amazing dry aged steak ? it was rare when meant to be medium rare and chewy with 3 tiny little baby potatoes and a bowl of salad that didn't even have a tomato or any dressing, it was just slaw.
Sad to say we spent over $500 for our table at the ascot and we were very disappointed ☹️
Plz note the staff were lovely and this is no reflection on their service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The only thing that stopped Ascot Park Hotel getting 5 stars was the way I was treated by a couple of individual staff members. I observed how they interacted with some guests who must have been prominent in some way, and then had a completely different experience when speaking to them myself. I feel like one woman wanted to check why I was at the hotel, as if I was out of place (I dress well, but kind of casual). It made me feel like I didn't belong there, even though we paid for our rooms like everyone else in the hotel.
The room we stayed in was nice, it was clean, and it had what you'd expect from a hotel of this type. Also had a spa bath, 2 TVs, a telephone, kitchenware, but no salt or pepper. The pool is good, nice temperature and indoor so you can swim any time (within the times allowed). There was also a gym, and 2 saunas, as well as a spa pool which was not operational due to level 2 covid status. There was bike hire a available for guests, which I took advantage of.
I had a great stay, with exception to being treated like an outsider, and I will mention that all the other staff I dealt with were nice. I wish I had noted their names. It may not seem like a big deal, but I like to feel welcome, regardless of how I look!
It was not the first time I'd been a guest at the hotel, but I may look elsewhere next time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is about the food. Was part of a function, we had dinner. I am pleased I didn't have to pay. My steak - perfectly cooked, good taste. On my plate was NINE pieces of roast potato, 2 thin, small spring carrots and 2 pieces of broccoli, and the steak. Dessert was creme brulee, tasted just ok as was smothered for some reason in fruit. On the side were 2 rather bitter tasting 'shortbread'. Service was pleasant but slow. Was a little disappointed but sadly this is not unusual. Sorry guys but would prefer to go elsewhere now as the last 3 times I've eaten at Ascot has been a big disappointment.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Walking into reception was elegant and very comfortable. Beautiful art along the walls, showing local attractions. Emberz has the most popular meals. Our room is designed for two people. All amenities were clean and comfortable. We have enjoyed our time with fantastic customer friendly staff. Children friendly with plenty of experience with the swimming pool and plenty of fun.
Thank you Ascot. We will be back. ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed a night here in motel unit. The things that were good were
1. Comfortable beds
2. Clean unit.
3. Enough room for 4 adults
Not so good
1. Back bedrooms back onto State Highway One so pretty noisy. Big trucks start about 5. Louder with window open. 2. Closed gaming room at 9.15 just as we arrived. Not impressed.
3. Food at restaurant (bar) average. Maybe some salad greens with steak, eggs & chips would have been good. Would I stay here again not sure. Felt it was fairly antiquated particularly gaming room closing so early. Invercargill is meant to be a city not a backwater town.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed 3 nights at Ascot Park. It was an enjoyable stay,in a very clean & we'll appointed room. The staff were friendly & helpful. The only thing I would like to see in the disabled bathroom is more hand rails around the shower,as there is currently only 1 by the toilet and another small 1 by the shower mixer. The shower seat however is nice and heavy,with no risk of tipping over.
