★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely breath taking me and my partner spent 1 night and that was all we needed to fall in love with this beautiful place the staff were A+ and the room was cozy clean and just what we needed for a weekend get away we've re booked for another two nights in a few weeks for another get away and are excited to go back to the tranquil scenery fresh air and great company! 10/10 highly recommend

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed for our Wedding Anniversary and the setting was lovely but the Air cottage was filthy particularly the bathroom. We did not get a helpful response from reception saying he was not a cleaner and the cleaner would be back tomorrow. Very upsetting stay especially when they only cleaned the bath the next day nothing else, not even making the bed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely secluded and quiet place, except for the driveway. Stayed in one of the cottages which was very lovely and private except for some minor issues. No instant coffee, no extra blanket or electric blanket that covered the whole of the bed, toilet lid did not stay up and pipe leaking from the handbasin.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great little get away! The location is perfect, away from traffic, very peaceful atmosphere. Appartments could do with a little maintenance and some new pillows but apart from that it was great. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely return.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wow! Beautiful cottages in a pristine setting - sounds perfect!
But here’s prime case of “bait and switch”...
First impression heading down the driveway, you fear that your life will end as your car slips down the hill because the pavement has washed away. Second impression is that your assigned cottage doesn’t quite look like the online photos. Those photos don’t show cobwebs everywhere! The furniture and fixtures in the photos are nicely finished, unlike the beat-up reality in front of you. But it isn’t just appearances – appliances and fixtures don’t work properly. The freezer doesn’t freeze, the portable heater is just full high or off – a broken thermostat. Burnt out light bulbs, the corroded plumbing fixtures, the list goes on.
My guess is that the current owner must have inherited the property maybe 20 years ago and just can’t be bothered to maintain it. He’s probably waiting for a developer to come along and offer a price for that property that will allow the owner to retire. Having the existing junk bulldozed away would be the best thing that could happen here…

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed at Avalon Resort on December 3 2021 for a couple of nights. We were meeting up with a couple of friends for my birthday. Our room needed abit of TLC. We met the new owner that took over on December the 3rd and he knows the place needs some tender loving care he also brought a brand new barbecue so we could cook my steak on for my birthday hes such a nice guy and his staff were really nice too thank you very much

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful, homely, surrounded by greenery and scenic views - we had a wonderful time at the modern spa and sauna, the natural spring water pool is beautiful. We are two young mums travelling with our babies and any stress we might have experienced was mitigated by the wonderful staff. They provided us with a cot, high chair and made our checkout and checking super speedy with the kids waiting in the car. The cottages themselves had a warm, lovely design and very well equipped. Not to mention to friendly sheep, boar and pukekos who came to say hi to us!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The environment is wonderful. You are in the nature yet only hundreds meters away from the main road. Melody and Ariel the lambs are cute as. Spa and pool are fantastic though we didn't have time to swim in the pool. Managers are chill and kind
