β β β β β We put our 2 cats into the cattery in late February and have the highest praise for the way they were looked after. Woody is an extremely timid ginger boy who came home well fed which was my main concern with him.. He was out and about when we picked him up. I thought he would have been too scared to venture out of his cage! Izzy our longhaired cat was beautifully groomed and very happy. She apparently followed the staff around "talking"to them and wanting to be brushed as much as she could. She needed mediating twice a day and this was not a problem. :-)

β β β β β Awahuri Cat Motel is the place to send your cat while your away. We regularly use this cattery and we've been impressed by the wuqlquaand care they show our cat, Sherlock. They have separate cages for the cats; they're spacious and clean. They also have a large open air space for the cats to play and stretch. John is very accommodating and is happy to use your own feed if you prefer.
Highly recommend you use John's cattery next time you travel.

β β β β β Our two Himalayan Persians arrived home in a terrible state - saturated, and absolutely reeking of urine. The 8-month-old's fur was matted under his chin and armpits and along his belly, leading to his whole underside having to be shaved, while his sister's fur was knotted as well - evidence of poor, or no, care or grooming. We will NEVER trust this institution with our pets again. Imagine arriving home after a long absence and a long flight and not being able to cuddle your pets until you had bathed them because the smell was so bad. It was really distressing.

β β β β β Made two bookings with Awahuri to do in-home feeding for 2 days over Christmas and 3 days over New Year. The Christmas booking was fine but came home after New Years to find no one had been. My cats had been left for 3 days with no new food or water.
When handing in a key, the person in the office seemed very unorganised. I was concerned about the fact my booking was only recorded on a post-it note and specifically asked if he knew that is was two separate bookings, he assured me he knew it was. I asked if he wanted instructions of where to find cat food, he said βwe will find itβ. I had to prompt him to make sure my contact details were correct in case he had any issues.
If booking in-home feeding with Awahuri I would call everyday to make sure they have been.
