Papa Gorge Christmas Picnic
Combine a one hour trip down the Rangitikei with a social dinner at our licensed riverside cafe.
Rafts, kayaks and Scenic Drifts are all options on this all inclusive river trip, mix and match on the same trip! For those who do not wish to partake on the water, short walks or even just relaxing on the patio are pleasant options.
Make it a family affair, kids are welcome.
Meeting times: To have a relaxed evening BBQ the ideal meeting time for this trip is 2pm. Times can be arranged to suit your needs and we have lunch options available.
Included: transport from the river back to Awastone, hot showers after the trip to freshen up, BBQ Dinner (or lunch), all rafting equipment for your safety and comfort and of course our friendly guides to take you through your journey.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The main camp area and cafe is lovely and the less expensive basic campsite on the Mangaweka side of the bridge is located in a spectacular spot in the River under the papa cliffs. New ablution facilities are being built now, and the new bridge across the Mowhanga Gorge is almost ready.
$9 pp on basic site (unpowered)
$24 pp powered sites in lovely landscaped grounds with great facilities in the Main Camp.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ we came here for a birthday meal. the food was wonderful, the burgers, the pizza and the steak pie. All of those were positives. The slight negative was we had to ask where one of the meals were, (it seems like it was totally forgotten), and a mistake with the order. Given that they weren't rushed off of their feet that was a bit disapointing. But over all I would most certainly come here again

The management and staff couldn't be more helpful and courteous.
The facilities were spotlessly clean and tidy.
The location is quiet and scenery pure magic.
We enjoyed walks and fly fishing and would certainly recommend the leisure raft trip down the Rangatikei river.
The Cafe produces amazing food and great coffees and lattes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We thoroughly enjoyed an hours rafting (2 teams in 2 boats) for our end of year team get together) followed by a fabulous meal.
We were all blown away with the experience. Thoroughly enjoyed it! And none of us wanted it to end. What a stunning day and fabulous local fun & enjoyment. We enjoyed a great meal and drinks before our minivan driver came to pick us up.
A number of us talk about going back.
i recommended this to family from Auckland with two young boys who did this on Thursday just gone and they just loved it too.
