★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A great place to find a special gift for that special person in your life. Ladies will love the large range of clothing and cosmetics but understand that this is pricey! A recommendation is to stop at the in-store JBs cafe for a coffee and sweet treat, you won't be disappointed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Taking into account the level 2 restrictions I do understand duty of care. However, your policy of only serving eat in customers at the table is nonsensical. You are happy to serve takeout customers, take their order, accept payment and hand them food at the counter. As I wanted to eat in I had to walk away, sit down, await service then try to remember what you had to offer. No menu provided and the staff told me to go back and look.
Not the way to encourage repeat business.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There was no policing of social distancing in the Cafe. A group of people came over to an adjacent table to catch up with friends. They crowded around my wife's chair and even staff were hqving to walk around them. Eventually we abandoned our coffees and left.

Order to takeaway a scone from the uncovered selection on the counter to be buttered as was travelling through Timaru plus a coffee .
The person on the cash register once had finished doing that then asked to see my vaccine pass even thought it was a take out order .
I received the scone but instead of buttered a slice of butter was included in the paper bag with the scone .I asked as was travelling through Timaru and had no way of buttering the scone if it could be buttered .The response I received was we aren't allowed to handle and butter the scones because of covid .
My question is 1 why don't you wear gloves? 2 how do you make the scones without using your hands ? 3 with these covid restrictions the cafe has in place to avoid x contamination why are the scones on display completely uncoved sitting on the counter .????

Living in Queenstown, I love to go to Ballantynes whenever we can get there, to Timaru.
where they sell skin care, cosmetics, Fashionable clothes, hand bags, women's wear, men's wear
Its just a shame they don't sell shoes, I love a (one stop- shop department store) that offers everything, I understand you can't have everything that everyone wants, but over all I love coming to see the Fashion.
And Thank-you Ballantynes for having a public toilet, and thank you that it is lovely and clean.
Your Staff are Friendly
Polite and very helpful.
When I go shopping,
I look for service...
And friendliness, there's nothing worse than going into a shop that has a cold environment, and they don't speak to the customer....well you won't find that at Ballantynes I've even found my favourite shop assistant, I told her we must go out for a Coffee and chat, as I'm from out of town
As I was showing her, nothing went with my dress from home, so I had to wear a long coat with it, I just didn't have the right jacket to wear with my dress from home before I came to Timaru that day, and
The shop assistant in Fashion, said she understood completely
How I felt.
I'm sure if I was searching for a Jacket I would have found something there,
Now that's the kind of shop I like to go to.
With real people I can relate too.
