Both steven and robyn were exceedingly welcoming and made the whole thing that much better. I'd stop by even just to see Steven, funny lad he is and knows his stuff too. Overall great experience, would reccomend

They have created an excellent balance between allowing you to do the job yourself and giving help required to make sure you get an end product that you will love and cherish. Two very down to earth people providing a great experience, highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our family had such a great day making knives in Barrytown! Who would have thought?? Steven and Robin were terrific hosts and guides, and definitely characters. Our whole family had fun including both adults and our 12 and 14 year olds - not an easy crowd to please. It's a full day and is absolutely worth the time and money. We each think our knife is the best knife and we are ridiculously pleased with ourselves. The axe throwing, giant swing, and delicious lunch and snacks were all added bonuses. Definitely recommend this 100%.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What an amazing experience! We came over from Christchurch for a birthday thing, and had such a great day. Steve and Robyn are pros, they've been teaching people how to make knives for 17 years now, so you're in safe hands. You get to forge steel, smash white hot metal with a sledge hammer, shape it into whatever kind of knife you like (within reason, no cleavers i don't think), cut the wooden handle to size, lots of grinding and sanding and you leave with an incredible knife that YOU made! Steve is a real character and highly skilled, and will ensure you make the best knife possible. Absolutely recommend Barrytown Knifemaking!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wanted to give my 14yo an experience and memory. So glad I discovered knife making with Steven and Robyn. What an awesome couple and a brilliant day. Our knives will be cherished and used for years. Strongly recommend this but encourage you to book early. We were lucky to get in due to a cancellation.
