★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Big Fig has an unusual formula where you choose the size of plate/price and then select 1 meat (or lentils) and a selection of veggies and salads. The food was delicious and tasted awesome. It's more suitable for a quick, nutritious and delicious meal than a grand night out. We enjoyed a tasty pinot noir afterwards. No booking - but given the quick turnover you probably won't wait long for a table.
We enjoyed it so much we went back for lunch the next day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tasty, nourishing food and good value for money! The medium plate ($20) was a good portion size for dinner. The onion gratin was most surprisingly delicious. I would also recommend the meatballs. The food was replenished frequently and still steaming hot when we started eating it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Theeeee best slow cooked beef cheeks on the planet, period. Plus they have a great variety of salads and other uniquely flavoured hot dishes to choose from. Dinner menu is put out at 5, $20 for a medium takeaway, worth every cent!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best restaurants in NZ. Would definitely recommend if you’re in Wanaka. You can choose a variety of dishes per plate. The meat is very tender and full of flavor. Everything is made from scratch, creative and wholesome. The cakes and desserts are very good too.
