★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Blue Spur Bushwalk is an excellent walk through the gold fields of yesteryear. The trailhead is easy to find and there's a decent into panel at the small carpark. There are signs of mining everywhere on the track with remnants of mine tunnels, cuts, pits, channels, races and stone piles everywhere. You do need to be careful and aware of the danger. The walk is through a beautiful forrest these days. It's shady all the way and is an awesome walk. You have to be very able bodied though as the track has scrambles up and down rocky areas. Nothings too hard but if you're not sure footed you may struggle. The walk lasts for about an hour and a half though if you really wanted to go round quick you could probably get round in an hour. Stopping for photos and wondering about the folks who worked the area 150 years ago meant we took closer to 2 hours to make the loop. The track is not that well defined in some areas and you do need to pay careful attention to the orange trail markers. All in all though this is an excellent way to spend a few hours in a stunning location. Drive around the scenic loop on the way in and out for some nice views too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quite a technical walk, a good level of fitness and ability required to clamber over, around and through an amazing piece of Gold Mining history. Loved it!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful bush track, mind you don't go after rain as the track was a stream when I turned up haha. Still worth it

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great adventure for a short walk (less than 3km) preferable to complete in dry conditions as it gets rather slippery heading to the top. Beautiful in the summer or winter - highly recommend!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A must do short walk in hokitika. A little slippery at very start in the wet but good footing for most of it. Wear good shoes.if wet. Middle of summer most footwear would be fine.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is one of the best short walks we have done. Not because of amazing scenery but more for being able to see and be in the massive scale of the old gold digging works. You get a real feel for the effort of NZ settlers in scraping out their fortunes. We were followed all the way around by a fantail and as we were the only ones there, had plenty of time to discover and photograph the colourful fungi. As with a lot of West Coast walks we just put on our gumboots as there's bound to be mud and you do have to watch for slippery wet rocks at the start. Keep to the marked track as you could fall into hidden holes and the crevice you sidle through is quite long but safe.
