Britomart Transport Centre is a very well designed structure and modernistic architecture layout. Now is still under heavy expansion but, passengers are not hindered in any way. The Britomart Transport Centre Britomart Transport Centre is well-lighted, direction signages are well placed and visible. Britomart Transport Centre is the public transport hub in the central business district of Auckland, New Zealand, and the northern terminus of the North Island Main Trunk railway line. It combines a railway station in a former Edwardian post office, extended with expansive post-modernist architectural elements, with a bus interchange. It is at the foot of Queen Street, the main commercial thoroughfare of Auckland city centre, with the main ferry terminal just across Quay Street. The centre was the result of many design iterations, some of them being substantially larger and including an underground bus terminal and a large underground car park. Political concerns and cost implications meant that those concepts did not proceed. However, at the time of its inception in the early 2000s the centre was still Auckland's largest transport project ever, built to move rail access closer to the city's CBD and help boost Auckland's low usage of public transport. It is one of the few underground railway stations in the world designed for use by diesel trains.[2] Initially seen as underused and too costly, it is now considered a great success, heading for capacity with the growing uptake of rail commuting. Limitations on further patronage are primarily due to the access tunnel from the east which provides only two rail tracks, and the lack of a through connection via a rail link to the North Shore or to the Western line via an underground tunnel, which would change it into a through station. A tunnel to the Western Line is now under construction, as part of the City Rail Link project.

There was nowhere in the station to buy a transit card, I had to walk to a convenience store 15 minutes away to purchase one.

Well. I’m a train lady, I like trains, so I ride the trains. This is one of the many train stations I’ve been to. I can’t say it caught my eye in particular at first. It came across to me as the ordinary train station, windows, floor, walls. Your basics. But once I opened my eyes, I could tell it was a lot more then that. With marble floors, windows, seating for the heavens, and nice walls. It had earned my respect. But once I had taped my hop card and gone down the escalator. I was left in pure awe. Turns out this train station is underground!!! Trains lined up, a sight to behold. I felt a breeze of home brush my face. This train station was the pinochle of train station beauty. Disclaimer: I lost my hop card, and my son Adam here. The train station has still not found Adam, but they have found evidence of life, they’re telling me that he is living somewhere in the train station they just haven’t figured out where?. I’m staying in good contact with the train station operators. There is a sunny sky behind every rainstorm, and this is pure evidence of that. Adam if you are somehow reading this, please tell the nice workers where you are. We still have other trains to catch❤️

This place will be buzzing when the new City Loop is finished. It's clean and tidy and lots of Customer service people to help. Best for me is it's location next to Commercial Bay and the Ferry Building.

Good communication, lots of staff to help, can get too packed sometimes but there is always a second train if you're willing to wait 20-30 mins for a more peaceful train ride. The security is pretty intense. The shops there are extremely overpriced. The piano there is really annoying. Also the girls bathroom has an issue: there is soap on one side but not on the other, please fix this.
