A lovely green little camp ground reasonably handy to town (10 minutes by bicycle). Facilities are a bit old but lovingly maintained. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Popular with mountain bikers due to its handy proximity to many fantastic tracks. At the very end of the camp is a 740 hectare wildlife sanctuary.

Wonderful campsite! Despite visiting between Christmas and New Year we had plenty of space. You’re properly in nature here. There’s a security guard on the gate all night so you can arrive at any time. Clean toilets and good, cheap showers. Easy access to Nelson for exploring the town and surrounding region. Definitely recommended!

The holiday park is over 20 years old (I know this as I stayed at the park 20 years ago) but located in a nice, quiet spot i.e. valley about 15 mins drive from the middle of Nelson city. It is reasonably priced with choice of cabins or camping. A must whilst staying is a visit to the sanctuary nestled at the back of the holiday park. 700 hectares of beautiful protected bush with a network of tracks running through it. Surrounded by a predator fence it was once upon a time the water supply for Nelson city. The sanctuary is run by a big group of passionate & dedicated volunteers. We were told; whilst visiting sanctuary, we could become a volunteer. Had to politeky explain we were not Nelson locals.

This campground is a bit of a relic. The facilities are rather old and rundown. You need to buy a token for $1.00 to use the shower and the showers are not modern. Not many campgrounds still charge extra for the shower these days. Be aware there is no internet or phone coverage on either Spark or Vodafone. You can pay $7.00 extra to get limited WiFi whereas most campgrounds provide free WiFi. I believe this campground is owned and operated by the Nelson City Council so they probably don't want to invest much money but they certainly know how to charge the customer. My advice is to avoid this place unless you want to relive your camping experiences from the 1960's.

Customer service was great. Peaceful area. Sandflies killed us though.

Terrible land,no good for tents, bad coverage area, black spot zone, showers keep breaking down, boring azz place has nothing to do,staff have no respect for the native plant life or for campers right to privacy, too much prejudice, cannot enjoy ur sounds, place is full of deadbeats who don't know how to enjoy life,by far the worst campground I've ever experienced in my beloved Aotearoa...

Amazing place to camp out. Kitchen is nice and spacious. Although for hot shower u have to pay but anyway waking up in the middles of woods and the sweet birds chirping working as alarm clock and u get to see some awesome deers arround if lucky they will come arround ur camping area at night just out of curiosity i guess. Really amazing place abit cold but all the nature makes up for it.
