★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Coffee and chocolate pretty good but the business is let down by the unfriendly service. No smiles and abrupt but perhaps it waa just the staff member at the time. Still worth it for the chocolate

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wednesday 18.02.19 - I ordered a take away large mocha; the wait was 15 minutes; and when I took my first sip straight after taking it from the barista it was luke warm! ?. I had to warm it up at work just 5 minutes drive away. Nevermind the way the main barista spoke to the helper/trainee and the customers could witness the tension :( I could have had a better mocha somewhere else at half the price; and in half the time AND hot like it’s meant to be!! Dissatisfied customer!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Butlers Porirua is normally a great cafe for a hot chocolate, but in here this evening (third 25 Nov 21) team member was an absolute shocker.....if you want to know how to loose business, have a look at this one! Rude, grumpy, made us feel like our order was an inconvenience to her shift. And I think the straw that broke the camels back was when we suggested we sit in the butlers seating area....apparently she didn't want to do cafe service....when the drinks arrived she all but threw them at us....didn't catch her name, but has red tied back hair.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First time customer my partner and I called into Butlers Cafe for a coffee. Quite impressed with the female staff who were friendly, happy and helpful. Great customer service and great coffee! However we weren't impressed with the tall male gentleman that was on his phone the entire time we were there. Quite unprofessional we thought.

But now not any more.
Why - if the service is pathetic and coffee doesn't taste like before then I wouldn't not come back.
I ordered coffee, it didn't taste as good as it used to so far these many years.
After 2-3 sip I went beck to tell them, the coffee is not as good and chocolaty today as it used to be.
The cashier checked with the person who made coffee and told me that they have put proper amount of chocolate in my coffee, so there is nothing wrong.
Strange he didn't offer me a new coffee.
I left my cup saying throw the coffee in bin, and he took it back but still didn't offer new coffee.
While going out, I thought, I can at least enjoy the chocolate (I got hazelnut one, the heart shape), and the hazelnut also turned out to be bitter - Well I know I can't complain about this but there is a possibility that the chocolate might have been out of date!
Even since I came to NZ in 2008, I have been to Butlers many times, with friends who are otherwise catching up somewhere else.
What a waste money ($6.70), and such a poor service, will not go back again!!
If I was the owner, I would have definitely made the another coffee rather than disappointing customer.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lemon and white chocolate cake ? one of the best cakes I have had in a long time this hit the right spot with a great balance of sweet and sour and it was so soft ?.
Raspberry and Chocolate Mousse.
The mousse was quite thick while I prefer them fluffy and creamy textured. So, not the best one I have eaten.
