Stunning views and beautiful bush/trees. Unfortunately the track has recently (January 2022) had new gravel added, and was a bit too slippery.

First time going for a hike ever and I really enjoyed trailing along the Butterfly Creek trail. It was labelled a “moderate” walk and that wasn’t moderate for me lol Still really enjoyable and make sure you go when it’s not too wet (gets slippery) and not too dark. I went after lunch on a Saturday.

Another fabulous group of easy walking tracks in the hills behind Eastbourne. The tracks go from easy to intermediate and are well maintained and sign posted. The sea views are perfect. Most of the tracks have a gentle climb to the first ridgeline. The track sign posting are very realistic, some level of walking fitness is required.

Great little walk for young families. Steep up (from Kowhai Street) at the start and, therefore, down on the way back, but magical picnic area!

Great workout going over the hill, and really nice picnic area about 40 mins in. Stunning views of the Harbour, and on good days you can see the Southern Alps and even some snow on the peaks!

Maybe it was just me but I found it to be terribly sign posted and actually drove past it and started walking around the coast before realizing something wasn't right. We enjoyed the walk (only did the short one which was still 1 hr) but I wouldn't recommend it for young kids and definately not toddlers. Some of the terrain is quite steep and the kids weren't enjoying it too much. Didnt help that we climbed it in the searing heat lol. Never actually made it to the creek or the picnic area cos the kids were all shattered and it was gonna add an extra 1hr 30min.

Lovely walk up the hill with views towards the City. Note the way up is a little challenging but once you reach half way you go back down to get to the creek (that also means you have to go up again then down to finish the one way walk). Worth the hike and the effort and our dog also loved it.

The view is amazing. Took me from Bus Barn to Kowhai st with 2 kids (9&5) 1.5 hours resting in between.
