★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were at the cafe for lunch. The owner who served us was a very nice host and made sure we were well looked after. The food was lovely, nicely presented and yummy. The mushroom on toast was creamy with a very subtle hint of cumin. The coffee wasn’t mine so no comment other than would you look at that froth!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Booked out cafe 39 for my birthday and couldn’t recommend it more! A beautiful hidden gem along ponsonby road. Huge courtyard out the back which can easily fit 50 people, as well as beautifully decorated indoor area with bar. The staff are fantastic! Working with Rene was an absolute breeze, was super flexible and accommodated all my requests. No hire fee, just a minimum spend on food and drink. Cocktails and food was super yummy. If you are looking at booking out a venue or even just out for a drink I would highly recommend cafe 39!

Genuine and warm service matched by excellent cocktails! Great music, with a funky vibe.
Rene, the host, is so welcoming and knows his stuff with great drink recommendations.
My partner and I had two drinks each and all were delicious. We will definitely be returning and we hope others support this fantastic local business.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Massive shout out to the bar tenders and owner for making our night unforgettable! Epic cocktails (we all had a gin one the bartender picked for us and it was 10/10) and such a great vibe inside - we can't wait to come back. It also has a cute AF courtyard. My new fave spot in Ponsonby!
