Cafe Polo in Miramar has a reputation for exceptional food and professional bistro style service, with international and national acclaim in Time Out Sydney, Australian Vogue Travel and Entertaining and Cuisine.
We strive to bring you the best local produce based on the principles of ‘Slow Food’ - supporting local suppliers, using additive free products, free range meat and eggs and organic fair trade coffee - with great service to match.
Cafe Polo is fully licensed. The wine list has been tailored to suit the style of food with a focus on New Zealand wines. With the wine and beer selection changing regularly there is always something new and interesting to try!
The name “Café Polo” emphasises Polo’s place in the community as it is based on the close proximity to the Miramar Polo Grounds on Para Street where, in the 1800’s, Wellington’s Polo matches were played.
We are proud supporters of local schools & kindergartens as well as the SPCA, Men’s Health Month, Mary Potter Hospice & Ronald McDonald House.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cafe Polo offers an excellent range of brunch and lunch options, perfect for a Sunday stop in. It’s hard to go past the hash brown meal with vine tomatoes, feta and balsamic salad (adding a poached egg of course). Be sure to check out the blackboard for extra tempting treats.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cafe Polo is a super busy cafe. The food is really nice, coffee as well. On the other hand the queue is ridiculous and the wait to get our breakfast today was 45 minutes ( we book a table in advance, otherwise is impossible to get a place to seat here ). I have to say that is nice place to eat, but in overal the experience is no that nice when you spend an hour in a place just for breaskfast.

It was our first time at Cafe Polo and overall experience was pretty good. Staff was quite pleasant and food was good. I really enjoyed my beef burger and everyone else at my table enjoyed their meal too. We're definitely coming back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Haven't been to Polo for years, but pleasantly surprised to find that they do their own GF bread, and it is awesome! Their website and menu doesn't mention it, but you can substitute for their usual sourdough for free. Had a Reubens on it (I guess technically not a Reubens sandwich if it's not on rye) and it was great!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We've been irregular regulars here for years - food is typically excellent, service good, cute setting - nothing pretentious. Prices are fine. Food options are wide - and delicious across the board. Only once have had disappointment - overdone poached eggs. Lovely to see hollandaise sauce is back! Cabinet baking is always awesome.
