I had blood taken today from me at SCL Northfield. In the past finding the vein has frequently been quite difficult for technicians. Not today. The best experience I have ever had. Technician Deb Hill ,so gentle and made it look so easy. Didn't feel anything. Not even slightly. Thanks for you professionalism.

Amazing team working under very difficult circumstances at the moment due to Covid. The way they dealt with a difficult "client" today was extremely professional. It is certainly not OK to abuse staff. Thank you for apologizing for the wait even though it's not your fault. You are all doing a great job and it is appreciated.

As other reviews have noted, actually finding the lab is difficult. No signage on the street, then when you turn down the lane, no signage there either. Even the sign outside the door is hard to spot. Maybe a banner would be useful? However once you've arrived things improve. There is a large waiting room and plenty of seating. No receptionist, just take a card and scan it so you're in the system. Both times I've been there have been plenty of staff who seem to move through the waiting list efficiently. If you turn up with a doctor's request form then processing it seems very easy. We came across a snag that took at least 10 minutes to fix when a blood test request has been emailed a few weeks ago to the system but got lost. As there aren't any admin staff around the slightly harassed nurse (who is there to take blood, not find her way around a computer) struggled to find what she needed. Apart from this difficulty, staff seem fantastic. Friendly and competent people who do their job well.

I made an appointment, showed up 2 minutes early and was out the door with my blood test done 7 minutes after my booking time. I was blown away by their efficiency! The staff were all lovely too.

I do understand things are unusually busy due to a pandemic going on and I have no issue with needing to wait longer than usual. I get that. The queue stretched out the door and we were told to take a card, scan it and join the queue. No problem with that either. The actual process of doing bloods was fine and the person who did them was friendly and professional, however the admin side was a complete shambles. The numbered card system appeared to be in complete disarray. People were being called up ahead of people who had been waiting longer, everyone waiting seemed to know more about who was next than the staff or the ticket system. The same number was called multiple times even after customers waiting repeatedly told them that this number had already been called. The failure of the card system to call people in the correct order is not our fault and staff (young maori or pacific island girl) rudely blaming and berating customers who were quite rightly getting annoyed they were missing their turn was unprofessional and out of line. The person who managed it best was someone actually waiting for bloods to be done. Since there was no one at reception he repeatedly got out of his seat and advised people waiting outside what to do. He was much more helpful than any of the staff were and was the hero of the day. Oh and finally as others have mentioned there is absolutely no signage on the road, nor is there a sign visible from the side road going into the car park. The building is hard to spot and needs better signage.

Had my blood test done regularly here and the overall service was average. sometimes it only took 5 min of waiting time and sometimes it took more than 20 min on busier days. Staff attitude were generally good but I rarely communicate with them either. However, I had by far my worst experience today. the nurse taking my blood was being aggressive and it was the most painful blood test I have done here. This is the first time I had a swollen bump and a sore vein when I leave. Would give this a 3 - 4 stars for the previous experiences but the experience today has bump down to a 1-2 stars.

Arriving just after 7am for a fasting blood test and urine test. There were 3 people waiting & 2 phlebotomist on duty. After 30min another phlebotomist arrived. At 45 minutes of waiting 2 were still enjoying a chat in room 7, whilst 1 was flat out.5 people booked appointments on line apparently took priority over anyone else. The sign on the wall says there may be a 45 minutes wait - it needs to be amended to 1hour 45min. It's quicker to drive out to Burwood and get it done there
