★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was hyped by the reviews so decided to stop in, on the way back from Cape Reinga to Paihia.
I’m a donut enthusiast and donuts are my go to on cheat days to satisfy my sweet cravings.
My sister and i both ordered 4 donuts each and it’s true; this place does not lack variety.
Though, we were both disappointed when came time to try our donuts.
The apple fritter was sickeningly oily. The others were okay; but it just didn’t have the wow factor we were hoping for. So, i do not recommend this place. It was not worth the drive out of route to stop here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing! Not too sure how long this place has been here for in Kaitaia but just happenned to stumble upon it and am glad we did!
We were here in the morning and the donuts were still warm when we got them, not something you would get somewhere else! So as expected they were deliciously fresh and light and fluffy. I had the Cinnamon twist and my only regret was not buying more than one for myself!
Seems like all the locals know the place too. Even just walking around with a plain white box I hear someone say, "yum, Captain Donuts!"....
