Welcome to Chilis Bistro & Tandoor, the first fully licensed Indian restaurant in Newlands. We have been serving Newlands and its surrounding communities since 2011. We trust that you will enjoy a truly unique and memorable dining experience whilst indulging yourself in the real taste of fine Indian cuisine. The food we provide is guaranteed to have fantastic taste and flavor. The flavors are based on a range of spices specially selected from India. Chilis make curries mild, medium, hot and the spice can be varied as per customer’s requirement.
We offer an extensive range of Indian dishes, with dishes ranging from North India all the way to South India. To let you experience the quality of North and South Indian cuisine. We offer dishes such as the popular butter chicken originating from North India to a range of Dosa’s originating from South India. To suit your needs we have a range of chef’s special dishes served only by us. Chilis Bistro & Tandoor also offers many different accompaniment such as tandoori naan bread, rice and much more which will satisfy your appetite. There is a wide range of wines available, as well as the option of BYO wine only. Chilis Bistro & Tandoor have a range of imported beers from India and all over the world to accompany your meal. The atmosphere is friendly and casual, the food exceptional and the welcome sincere. Chilis Bistro & Tandoor promises excellent service and is happy to cater to families and large groups.
Bookings are recommended for lunch and dinner, but if you can’t wait, there’s always the takeaway option for the same excellence and flavours.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My absolute favorite Indian restaurant. The first few times I had it was through takeaway and I loved it, I ordered a goat buhna curry and it was delicious. The place itself is nice, the staff are nice and the food even better. If you like Indian, this is the place for you.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hey need to give a shout out to our local Indian restaurant in Newlands. I visited on a busy saturday night and was surprised with great service and awesome food. The food is so traditional indian food and with timely service they provide. Do try chikken tikka and achari tikka. The mains we had chicken tikka masala and biryani which are drool worthy.
Shout out to the owners and the team for providing very hygenic and service . Will visit again.

Don't even want to give a 1 star, I phone ordered dinner went to pick it up 15 -20min later(which was ok) I go to pay and when I gave my name a realisation they had mixed my order with sum1elso so not only myself but a different customer had the wrong meal so they ask me to wait for them to sort out my meal another 10-15 min I took dinner home dishes it up to my 2kids and partner on plates (as U do) and all of the rice was Luke warm to stone cold then we realised the butter chicken sauce was near cold also and we are sure that it was not chicken that was in our meal but some other type of meat so I called to explain my frustrations to which the old man who answered straight away argued he saw it being made ect I just said I wanted a freshly hot meal for my family to have the manager agreed to make another but hadn't said anything about bringing the cold meal bk so I go down to collect only again to be argued with and then asked wers the cold meal I explained I had served it up bla bla they said no fresh meal till old meal is shown I went bk home scrapped it all back into the containera took it back because I was 1container short due to us eating some as my kids were starving I then said I just wanted my money bk as by this stage we didn't want to risk eating ther food they only agreed to give me half my money bk and were so unbelievably rude as if it were all my fault. All I wanted was what I payed for and what I got was horribly wrong service and food , NEVER AGAIN

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just the flavours I craved for dinner. Chicken Dosai served with 3 accompaniaments all perfectly prepared. Clean restaurant, good ambience, not overdone. Staff well presented and friendly. Even the kitchen and dish washer were hard at work behind the scenes. Highly recommended for dine in or takeaway.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Update: We understand that you want to earn the money but it does not mean that ripping off customers. We ate lots of takeaways, the takeaway box only charge 50 cents. It’s never 2 dollars. You guys business is dishonest and it disgusts.
Ridiculous. They charged me $2 for a takeaway box, and the manager told me that this box is a doggy bag. I don’t know whether they were trying to joke with me or that’s how they treat the customers. But I’m not going to come and eat here again. Also my friends. Very disappointed.

Offers BYO wine plus plenty of choices for alcohol for sale including wine, beer and cocktails, as well as non-alcoholic drinks. Excellent service and tasty food - highly recommended!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Honestly I have seen better tasting restaurants and better ambience ones in the city. To start with expensive on price, too mild in spices, too small in portions.
It might be great for non native food lovers but not those who are native in the food.
Service is fast and accurate.
Won't regret if you miss a visit here.
