About Clareville Nursery & Garden Centre
In the 1980’s Faye & Alan Portman had a passion and a vision. A passion for plants and a vision of creating an income from their two acre central Wairarapa lifestyle block.
By the early 1990’s, Clareville Nursery was firmly on the radar of keen gardeners as a great source of unusual and special plants. The large display garden was nationally recognised and the nursery very popular.
In 2008 husband and wife team Steven & Louisa Portman bought the business and carried it forward to the bustling Garden Centre & Nursery that you see today.
As garden trends changed, so too did the business. Today, the focus is geared very much towards onsite production and a wide garden centre offering.
As well as one of the better plant offerings in the lower North Island, Clareville Nursery & Garden Centre carries an extensive range of garden products. They boast one of the largest pot and planter selections you will see, as well as an extensive range of garden ornaments. This includes contemporary styles as well as the beautiful imported Dragonstone range of which they are the exclusive Wairarapa agents.
In their time at the helm Steven & Louisa are proud of the achievements that together with their great staffing team they have seen at Clareville Nursery & Garden Centre. They look forward to sharing it with you.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent garden center, love this place, lovely selection of trees and shrubs some you can not get anywhere else, especially some of the standard trees , shrubs, standard English roses. Very good selection of annuals, vegetable plants, love some of the concrete urns etc.
Nice selection of roses with some standard English ones as well which is great..
The staff are excellent what more could you say.
The husband and wife team just the best, as for the mother, what a wonderful lady, the dearest and sweetest most knowledgable, could go on they are all top people, and they are all very knowledgeable.
This garden center is really worth a visit, so don't take my word for it, take a drive over to the WAIRARAPA to CLAREVILLE NURSERY and GARDEN CENTER for a weekend drive worth while.
