★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had my parents down from Napier for a few days and they treated me to dinner both nights they were here. First night we went to Loan star and were left with a sour taste with how bad the experience was. The next night we came to Coaster's. I didn't have much knowledge of their restaurant or menu as I have only ever gone in for a drink. But wow were my parents and I were very impressed. Very good food and very good service. Will definitely be back!

Come in we didn't book on Father's day. Only 2 front staff on.
The beard man (Dustin got his name of the receipt) pointed us to the table.
No name badge on the person serving us. Took us ages to be served.
I had to ask for fork for the table because the holder had run out.
The table behind me had finished had not been cleared since we got here. Eventually got cleared just before we left.
Took over 45 minutes to get our food.
No options for dairy free dessert.

I rang the manager the following week. No offer for vorcher for next time. A semi apology. She did laugh. (I didn't find it funny). We will never go there again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very busy place on a Friday night. At first very disappointed as we were turned away as they were full but had clear tables
One particular barman Nikko was extremely good and explained everything incredibly well. He apologised and said even if you were seated now the meals would take some time.
This eased my concerns and to say the least my impression was that he is extremely good at his job.
We may possibly return at a later date.
All bar staff here are very good and very efficient.
The babd 'Old School' was playing this evening and it was an awesome time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a great little suburban bar and restaurant. Food is tasty with several cheaper items on the menu for those who are watching their dollars. Nice atmosphere. Good place to go to catch up with friends (pays to book and reserve your table in advance as it can get busy).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a great place. Wide selection of beers, wines and spirits. The food is superb and such good value. The staff are friendly and helpful. A lovely relaxing place to be. Can't wait to go back (several times) when we next visit Christchurch.
