About Coromandel Oyster Company
Owners John and Anne Louden have owned the Coromandel Oyster Company Ltd since February 2007.
They have, what is described as a vertically integrated business where they catch and farm wild oysters then harvest, process and distribute nationwide as well as retail through their quaint little oyster shack on the main highway into Coromandel town.
The main oyster farm is 2 hectares behind the shop (lease 310) an inter-tidal area that at any given time there is around 40,000 dozen on the farm.
There is also a sub-tidal mussel long-line where they grow oysters in deeper water, and an inter-tidal 8 ha ‘nursery farm’ on the East Coast in Whangapoua.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the favorite spots to visit while traveling around Coromandel. Have been there more than 5 times already and all the time was very happy with service and food! Mussel chowder is to die for and battered Paua fritter is one of the favorites! Oysters are nice and fresh too!
Next time in town-would definitely visit them and no one else!

I was so sad to see the FOR SALE sign right in front. I really hope the tradition of excellent food at an excellent price continues!
This is our favourite road stop when head to coromandel town.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Oysters on point, they were demolished in minutes. Place gets VERY busy over New Years, but still worth a short wait if oysters are your thing. They also do some take away food but if its flat out there's long wait times. Still probably worth it cause the food is terrific. Recommend checking this place out.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had the fish n chip meal, 6 battered oysters and a dozen fresh half shelled oysters.
The oysters tasted really fresh however overall a little greasy and the scoop of chips for $5 was incredibly stingy.
