★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I would suggest you obtain full disclosure of all expected cost estimates and expectations well before proceeding with this company. If you still choose to go ahead, check all paperwork thoroughly, we found errors - transposed names, spelling mistakes etc, not ideal on legal documents. When we questioned them about the statement we received 2 months after initial contact (with no indication prior to that of billing to date), they responded by indicating they did not wish to deal with us further and suggested we go elsewhere to complete the process so in the end we paid alot of money for an incomplete job. I do not often publicly complain but we are not the experts in this industry and place our trust in these services. Our expectations were obviously not compatible but feel the firm should have done better at informing us what to expect from the process especially in terms of costs, and certainly be more thorough in the completion of any documents.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I don't often complain about businesses, but I had quite a few ethical concerns with how my trust money was disbursed and their fees paid including to a secondary lawyer with which I had other personal matters not related to the sale my property using the authority of the terms of engagement but not communicating the costs with me first. When you sign a contract with them, you are basically giving up your rights to dispute any part of their actions, and they can charge whatever they please in addition to what they have quoted you. Therefore, if you go with this law firm then prepare for a costly experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been using Davenports for several years having been unhappy with the service (and cost!) of some of the more “branded” Law firms in Auckland. My small business has needed a mix of leasing, employment and Trust advice and they have been wonderful to deal with. During the difficult Covid lockdowns the free Webinars (run by Bronwen Newcombe) were invaluable and when I needed some Trust documents attended to with some urgency they quickly delivered.
No one likes legal fees but I have found their charging to be transparent and very reasonable for the level of service. I have recommended Davenports to several colleagues and would do so again without hesitation.
A very happy client.

They will charge you for absolutely everything including so called “free consultation” to understand your matter. I so regret I came to this company for an advice. They didn’t help in any way and I didn’t even receive what was agreed from them but they charged for it anyway.
DON’T make my mistake, don’t deal with this company!!! But if you do, discuss the price you will pay and the result you will receive in advance and do it in writing.
Absolutely terrible services!!! So sad I had to give them one star because they don’t deserve even one star!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were referred to Tamiko Shack through some friends for conveyancing after we purchased our first property. I have dealt with lawyers many times before, but never for property related reasons, so the process was new to me.
In spite of this, I found the process to be surprisingly simple and hassle-free. I was particularly impressed by Tamiko for a number of reasons. Not only were her replies ridiculously fast during times where immediate responses were imperative, she was also extremely professional, gave us ample warning for different milestones throughout the process, and was clear and up front about pricing/pricing updates. When paperwork was prepared for signing, our obligations and rights were diligently explained and all paperwork was accurate.
Some other reviewers have commented on prices changing during the process. Here’s my experience. Davenports will quote an estimate and update you regularly throughout the process if the price may change. Our property had a high number of interests on the title, so we knew the base price was modestly quoted compared to what we would get charged. Quite simply, there was just more paperwork for them to review. Tamiko warned us of this before starting work on the title and LIM. Other reviewers perhaps went into the process without considering this and were shocked when the price changed.
Overall, I will be highly recommending Tamiko and her team moving forward. Tamiko was a big part of removing the administrative burden and related stress that can come with buying a property. Thank you!!
