★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great DOC centre. I must say that one of the best. It is a good place to go even for longer time during a rainy day. Friendly staff can also show you some of their docementaries they have under the sleeve. This place is definitely must visit before you go to any track on Stewart Island they have a lot of useful information about the conditions of the tracks and the weather forecast as well. Enjoy Stewart Island. Cheers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful staff - always so friendly and helpful (true Southland Spirit), great souvenirs and trinkets to purchase for momentous, plus have a viewing area of history, or can sit and watch DVD's of Stewart Island - a great place to go on a rainy/cold day. Good room for wheelchairs, good gentle entrance and double door if needed, but was disappointed with the wheelchair toilet as it's too small (not standard wheelchair toilet size). If you need a better wheelchair toilet, I'd go next door to the Museum as they have a standard wheelchair toilet there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful office, friendly and helpful workers, great exhibits and information about DOC programs, and a selection of movies to watch (which would be a great way to entertain oneself on a rainy day!)
And they have a real (stuffed) kakapo! Some small gifts and books and camp stove fuel is available.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a fantastic 3 day walk around the Rakiura track. It was so peaceful and the air so fresh and clean. Some great views and good for kiwi spotting.
