★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First time customer, booked a short trip from Oban to Ulva island. They were responsive and punctual and the price seemed right, given that it is mid-winter and they are the only operator on the island. Will gladly use again in future visits to Stewart Island.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Have been out on several different trips and always had awesome service from booking to trip. Even had no hassles getting on and off their vessel in my wedding dress! Great pelagics and always great to take to different parts of the Rakiura Track, Freshwater, Rakeahua, and hunters blocks!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Asked if they went to ocean beach which the lady said they didn’t. Asked if anyone else did transport there and was told that I needed to go to the oban visitor centre as they were they only ones who would do that. Went there (beside the ferry) and was told they didn’t do that. Found out just before I left that Ruggedy range wilderness experience did charters to ocean beach but by that time it was too late. It’s a very small community and I found it very frustrating that this company would send me on a wild goose chase. It’s for that reason I would always go to ruggedy range first in future. The lady there was fantastic and certainly went the extra mile.

Thanks to their commitment to customer service they made our dream come true - their Paterson Inlet Discovery cruise was a highlight of our stay and the freedom walk add on for Ulva was the icing on the cake. We had no coins so the Ulva Island Charitable Trust got a small thank you on their givealittle.co.nz page. They need and deserve all the help they can get

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This company never replied to my email so ended up booking our amazing tours through Ruggedy Range. I was shocked to witness first hand the unprofessional and unhelpful nature of one young man who works for this company. On arrival at the wharf for our tour with Ruggedy Range we discovered that someone had tried to deliberately sabotage the sole owner/operater of Ruggedy Ranges boat. A young man onboard a Rakiura Charter and Water Taxi boat saw that something had been done to the boat (i also suspect he was responsible for it as no-one else was around) and the owner was trying to figure out how to save her boat. He walked passed us several times and did not once ask if everything was alright or offer to help rectify the problem. I was shocked that in such a small community such as Stewart Island that the locals wouldn't rally around to support someone in their community who was in trouble and needed help.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A fun way to hop the local islands and a nice ride over to Ulva Island from Oban. The boat was clean and full of information to peruse on your way across. Punctual service and flexible daily charter schedule. Their customer service phone team was also very friendly and accommodating. As the saying goes: “You’re on island time” — they had no issue changing their journey times to a slot that suited my party. All around a pleasant experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A fun ride to Ulva island. If you want to explore Ulva island in your own pace and leisure, Rakiura Water Taxi is the way to go. We rocked up to Stewart island with no itinerary and checked to see if we could find an available transport to Ulva island and back, with a limited time before our flight back to Invercargill. Luckily, they were able to accommodate us. They also have guided tours/cruises if you’re up for it. We walked to Golden Bay (about 15-20mins from Halfmoon bay) to catch the water taxi. The staff and the skipper were nice and friendly. Excellent service. Highly recommended! ?
