Do not use Doggies and Moggies boarding kennels in Haruru

Warning to all dog owners wanting to leave their dogs at the kennels. We left our two dogs there for a 3 night stay, during the stay the owner of the kennels left her harness on which has subsequently rubbed and ate / rotted into her abdomen causing a skin infection and a lot of distress to our pup. The other dog also has come back with bacterial conjuctivitis.
The owner thought it was completely acceptable to keep the harness on for 4 days asking me "Well, what did you expect me to do?" - If the dog had been checked at all during her stay it would have been obvious that she was in a lot of pain and distress, not to mention you could smell her before you could see her.
The harness was initially left on the dog when dropping off as we were told that they are walked daily, however the owners son has informed us they are not exercised during their stay.
This is in breach of many of the Animal Welfare Act codes, however the owner has not responded to my request of a refund of their stay, and to cover the cost of the vet bills. I am wanting to make people aware of the way this man conducts his business, and to serve as a warning for those looking for boarding kennels for their animals. (Both dogs have been to the vet today)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our two dogs stayed here over New Years and they had a great time. Bill and Sue were really accomodating to our nearly 17 year old lab, Wellington, who needed a bit of extra care and Duke, who was quite nervous. They knew exactly what to do. Thank you, we’ll be back again. Recommended!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were visiting from Auckland and didn't do a booking for pet care after an extremely bad experience at another pet day care.
I called Doggies and Moggies and they were kind enough to accommodate for day care. As my dog has special eating arrangements, Bill asked for an additional $ as we were leaving him longer the next day. I did not mind at all as long our baby was looked after well and was happy n safe. Our lil one was all of the above so we can't ask for anything more.
Accommodating kennel and nice set up.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Picked up my two dogs after 7 days at Doggies and Moggies. One of them has ears that are really painted on and Bill is fantastic with him. This is the third time they have been at D&M and every time - great care. Last year when they were staying and we couldn't pick them up because of the floods - Bill was great having them for the extra days. Thoroughly recommend them.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A well set up facility and great value! Loved that my dog gets to socialise and play in the yard; the sleeping area is very well set up too with comfortable beds. The owners are very genuine and helpful people. I have had experience with a number of kennels during 8 years with my dog, this is a kennel I highly recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went to enquire about leaving our dogs there for a few days. Dogs seemed happy in the exercise area. Interacting well and none seemed upset or distressed. Was expecting an odor inside the sleeping quarters but was pleasantly surprised. It’s worth noting that this was a surprise unannounced visit early on a Saturday morning. The sleeping quarters were clean and as mentioned odor free. The units were sparse with a raised bed up off the concrete provided. I asked and was informed that each dog could bring its own bedding and comfort toy with them. At owners risk of course. General impression was positive.

Ryan caring and kind with the dogs knows each ones names and temperament Houses dogs to suit
Will use facility again Very reasonably priced
