β β β β β Open for decades, this is one of New Zealands best second hand bookshops. The stock is really good and the prices are exceptionally reasonable. Highly recommended.

β β β β β A cute little second hand bookstore to potter around in. Although it's one of the more petite ones I've been to, and the books are largely a bit older than most, there is always a selection of new books up the front. Easy to find sections and a nice variation! Good to grab a book then pop up to one of the nearby cafes for a bite to eat. The woman at the front counter is always polite and quiet, and there is Eftpos for those who don't have cash on hand. Nearly always nice and quiet! A little slice of book goodness in the Ponsonby/Herne Bay area.

β β β β β I was cycling up Jervois Rd and surprised to see Dominion Books open yesterday in breach of the Covid 19 Level 3 Lockdown? What's the story?
There was no counter outside, the assistant was sitting at the desk - the door was open for customers to walk in.

β β β β β Its a shame the older lady (surely not the owner?) is consistent in being so unbelievably rude and condescending. I've been three times over the last 4 years, always the same older woman and always the same attitude. Each time I went to try give them another chance, exact same experience. Real lack of customer service, especially for such a small store with lots of repeated titles. Probably not a good idea to scare potential customers away, I'll stick with "The Open Book" - just down the road and a much better experience.

β β β β β Probably the greatest range of 2nd hand books in Auckland. It's easy to get lost and find yourself looking through this treasure trove of books. Highly personable staff who always do what they can to help.
