★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A good place to rest our eyes ten took the power of mother nature for some more energy. Playing as a little girl in a rose garden. Breathe as deep as we need to fight with a piece of bad luck.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Exquisite spot to watch the sunset. The rose garden, despite its beauty, wasn't for me the highlight: the giant pohutakawa Te Ha ('the breath' in maori) is THE must-see in the park. Easily accessible from the main car park, it is full with character. This 180year-old tree has a sacred and strong past, however it is in danger: some memorial project threatening its life.
There are few walking tracks to try more or less steep.
Worth the visit!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good place for a picnic. There are rose gardens of course to see. But there is also plenty of space to picnic. It also has access to a beach with calm water as it’s kinda surrounded by land and looks like a lake.
It is elevated and overlooks the port and a big part of the city.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An awesome and really well kept rose garden, great to visit in the summer months when the roses are blooming and thriving. All sorts of different coloured roses to see and look at with name labels, and other plants to go and look at too. There are plenty of shady spots to sit down in for a rest too, and there is a cafe you can go to near the front parking area. There are public toilets, and a water fountain. Easy to get to from the CBD, and a great place to visit on a sunny afternoon.
