Leon moved to Waitahanui in 1993 spending all of his spare time fishing the local rivers before starting as a guide in 1997. Leon's experience includes many years guiding on local water, backcountry rivers and Heli fishing through out the Central North Island.
Leon has been a fly designer for Umpqua New Zealand. With patterns including the Tongariro Tungsten and the Phantom in black, green and brown.
Leon has always had a love of the outdoors is great with beginners, a genuine kiwi guide with lots of knowledge of the local area and not just the great fishing available.
Member of the NZPFGA(New Zealand Professional fishing guides association) and first aid certified.

Summer and winter I've driven down from Auckland to be taken out on the best fly fishing rivers in the world. I can honestly say I have NEVER had a blank day when being guided by Leon, he's the best. When fishing the Tongariro its important to be safe and I've always felt safe with Leon. He helps me cross the rivers at my pace and is always there to support me.
