★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What can I say ? This place is actually pretty GREAT.
It is amazing that the people of Christchurch can have such a facility to help them with recycling.
But this place is hard to find in terms of its location.
And it looks pretty nasty, with its structural setting, the bad smell and the decrepit buildings.
The whole place looks like some kind of a post-apocalyptic wasteland, which is perfect for filming a zombie movie if I might venture to write my comment with a bit of creativity.
Additionally, I disagree with some of the commentators who had criticized the workers for their "unfriendly & bad attitude".
I feel sorry for the workers who work at EcoDrop. They are, in fact, doing a hell lot of GOOD for Christchurch, and yet they seem to be suffering from the problem of understaffing. (They might be underpaid as well, I have no way to know.)
And from what I have seen, however briefly I might have been there, their working condition appears to be quite deplorable. If I had to work in an environment like theirs, I think that I myself will also struggle to keep a good attitude.
The workers of EcoDrop deserve our empathy and admiration, NOT our chastising. The City Council should take note of THAT.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was told you don't recycle polystyrene packaging From white ware and have a minimum charge of $217 to dump as hazardous waste. Rangiora takes it for free and sends it away to get recycled. What a joke you call yourself an ecodrop centre. No wonder the world is soo polluted.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are recycles, greens and waste, three lanes. Only the waste (red) lane costs for dumping, minimum charge $10 for 50kg and below. Drive in on a balance and they will record your car plate and car weight, your car will be weigh again upon exit while you proceed to payment. Prepaid lane is available, you can pay online and drive straight out, to miss the queue. Can be very busy on weekends and holidays. Super friendly staff on site, helping out at the recycling areas.
