Edo Japanese restaurant in the heart of the Hamilton City offering a variety of traditional Japanese cuisine, Udon noodle, Donburi, and Ramen.
Our atmosphere is stylish and friendly. Warm colours, dark wood, almost 30 items of hand-made Japanese traditional illustration (Ukiyo-e) and handicrafts. The lighting having a distinctive style. When sunlight shines through an open Japanese lantern (Chochin), gently illuminating the Washi paper and underlying bamboo frame, a warm atmosphere is produced.
At Edo,Our Executive Head Chef, Mr Hiroshi Hayashi, has over 10 years?f experience in the art of Japanese cuisine.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food was really nice however they were missing alot of items off their menu that day. Service was pretty good and the language barrier wasn't too bad. The place isn't huge but plenty of tables with big windows making it feel a bit more open and light. Pricing was pretty average I thought.

Response to owner’s response: what do you mean the sauce was not enough? There was no sauce at all..it was just chicken.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Delicious meals and generous sizes for the prices! Great value for money without compromising quality! The batter for the tempura was light and crispy, just how we like it. They accomodated for our large group of 15 (adults and kids). Only con would be that we couldn't pay separately.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A wide variety to choose from on the menu, there is I think 8 pages total so definitely takes some time to look through it all. I have visited EDO a few times, the food has always been great and still comes out within half an hour despite busy, peak hour periods. FOH waitress is very polite and is always observant of customers - always ready to help. Some of the seafood is not fresh though which is a bit of a let down. I would prefer quality, over a large quantity menu. Also water is pre-poured at the counter which is not so appealing, I do not know how long the water has been sitting there.

Reminded me a lot of my time back in Japan. Big portions, we couldn't finish the Ramen!
The Okonomoyaki was amazing, perfectly made!
We got a really big portion of takowasabi. Wish we could choose the noodles in our ramen as they were the thin long type. Medium spicy on the spicy miso ramen noodles was pretty hot, the spicy ramen was less so.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A rare Japanese restaurant in Hamilton who offers classic Japanese delicious. No crazy spicy chicken sushi, no western Japanese food at all. If you want to have taste the real flavour of Japanese food. Here is the right choice. Strongly recommend Seafood don, eel don. Enough for a men. Not like the iJapanese restaurant nearby, stingy to give more rice.
