★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Requested hourly rate from junior solicitor Matthew Barnett prior to a meeting with him pre Christmas. He replied his rate was $200 plus GST per hour. I thought that was OK. We arranged to meet which was approximately 1 hour in duration.
He followed this up with an email which I DID NOT request summarising our meeting. For this I received an outrageous invoice for $736. I sent an email querying this invoice. No response. So, it was the Friday before Christmas when I phoned NWM to follow up but nobody wanted to deal with my query. I was fobbed off. Spoke to a 'Naidoo' who was completely disinterested. After Christmas I was invoiced again. I wrote another email. Finally, someone at NWM reduced the invoice to $500 'as a sign of good will' which I'm still not going to pay. It needs to be $200 plus GST as I was quoted or thereabouts. Definitely a lot less than $500! NWM are very, very expensive and can bleed you dry, especially if they are aware you have some assets. I am disgusted with their service, their lack of empathy and their poor professionalism. To take financial advantage of somebody experiencing difficulties is beyond the pale. They've grown into a big, greedy corporate law machine without care. I recommend going for a smaller law firm who hasn't forgotten the Mums and Dads out there who while needing legal advice, don't want to be profit gouged. Avoid!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place charges a ridiculous fee! Received an outrageous invoice for over $3000 for an Agreement. The process was messy and took a lot of time to communicate, arrange appointments, and create further instances of extending conversations.
My solicitor was not available at the last review and there were major delays in processing the contract resulting in me being passed around to two others where no work was completed and getting charged an unreasonable price without notice.
Very unprofessional to call me at business closing time on a Friday nonetheless advising the following Monday meeting would be rescheduled because your firm did not know where the contract was.
Another instance is when I was meeting with the person who I passed on for the final meeting but it turns out I was meeting the first solicitor? who was on leave? Furthermore, the office was not set up for a video call meeting which resulted in me using my own phone and data to make the call on Facebook Messenger wasting our time.
The solicitor was good at breaking down details in the Agreement but sadly the rest left me with a bad experience here.
