★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Can someone please take this off the Google freedom camping list. Many members of the NZMCA are directed here by that site....still listed as a freedom camping area. And please, we Kiwis, who wish to travel in our own country are not all the same re disrespecting these sites and am sure we are not the individuals causing issues, yet these sites are disappearing every year, because we are all being treated the same as the young in their home made renos with false Self Containment stickers. Some of us, respectful NZrs, travel many ks to find this place, now unavailable to stay overnight. Having seen the article from 2017, not happy about the overall judgement. I naturally understand your concerns about damage.
