β β β β β Went here a month or so back. Service a little unorganised and waitress not very apologetic when food took a long time to come out for a friend who had been waiting over an hour. Asked one waitress to chase up a query and she never got back to me. Asked who seemed like the supervisor and she sorted it there and then. Food was ok but I wouldn't write home about it. Maybe I'll give it another try sometime down the line

β β β β β I just came in and bought some takeaways for lunch. We had the chicken enchilada and they were delicious - decent portion size, tasty sides, lots of toppings and really moreish cornchips :)
We'll be back to dine in next time, really pleased to have something this good so close to where we live :)

β β β β β The best Mexican food Iβve tasted in New Zealand (and Iβve tried a lot of places). Authentic, delicious, and staff are friendly too. Odd to find something so sabroso in Te Puke, but lucky Te Pukeans. Maravilloso!

β β β β β Been wanting to visit this restaurant since the rumor of a Mexican restaurant coming to town reached my ears, and this place did not disappoint. Food was wonderful, staff were friendly and welcoming. The place was busy, which I was pleased to see. So why only 4 stars? Because I'm leaving room for the restaurant to grow. They're still working on getting their flow. But hey, that means we'll be coming back as it grows, which I'm excited about. I love Mexican food, and this place is authentic. Not a commercial knock off. Kids menu, a little play area, beer, wine, spirits, cocktails and corn chips. Yip.
Well priced, probably a bit too cheap for the quality of food, if I'm honest.
We'll be back again soon.
Beef burrito was wonderful and the freshly made salsa was fantastic (ate half of it before we remember to photograph!)

β β β β β El Cartel is a must do if you're in the Papamoa Beach, Mount Maunganui or Tauranga areas. Amazingly fresh and delicious food in such generous sizes!

β β β β β I've been wanting to visit for quite sometime now, and I really wish I had come sooner. It was such an authentic experience, and I felt like I was in Mexico. Colourful and vibrant restaurant with amazing artwork, friendly staff and the best Mexican food I've had in New Zealand. We got the chicken nachos, chicken enchiladas, and churros. The chicken nachos are a must try. They also have happy hour everyday and a different special every day of the week.
