β β β β β Restaurant is in a great location and the staff were very friendly, But for the prices charged and the quality of food does not match up. I got the surf and turf and the fillet steak was certainly not fresh as it was grey inside and tasted like old meat, the sauce served with this was bland and the plate was drenched in olive oil. My partner had the fish and chips, the fish was very nice but the salad was swimming in olive oil and the salad not dressed. Lacks a chefs guidance in my eyes.
Response
It wasn't the cook on the steak that I complained about it was the fact that your steak was not fresh, maybe if you looked at your pictures on the front of the building you will understand what a fresh steak is meant to look like instead off making up excuses. You clearly don't take criticism well from the reviews below. So I'll not waste anymore time going back and fourth. I appreciate you guys removing it from the bill but that doesn't mean I cannot leave my opinion on here. Shame they wouldn't offer to change it for something else on the menu as I had to go to down the road to eat, instead they said we can remove from the bill or you can keep eating it.

β β β β β Delicious food. Served us well, even though we had some requests that were not on the menu.
Breakfast was tasty as well. Well come and visit again.

β β β β β We had an amazing dinner to say goodbye to 2021! This is our favorite place to eat in Picton! The food is amazing and the staff are friendly. If you want excellent quality this is the place. They never disappoint!

β β β β β Came looking for a superb culinary experience and left disappinted, the dinner lacked top quality products and the dishes were skimpy for the price. Service was nice but suddenly we were asked to leave as they needed the table less than an hour and a half after sitting. It was the only place we ate in Picton so quite sad to had such an average experience.
In response to the owners reply:
There are many ways to reply back to a bad review. None of them includes insinuating that your customers were intoxicated, which we werent. We had dips, mussels, prawns and oisters. Dips and praws were tiny portions, mussels werent really fresh, prawns were tasteless and cooked in too much butter. We used the table for less than 2 hours which is not much for a dinner and in any case, we could have been advised that the table was booked and how long we would have it available for, which is common practice in NZ.
Im pretty sure you'll have to deal with many more bad reviews in the future, on top of the multiple ones you already have. I'd suggest you to read a quick guide on hiw to deal with online reviews so you can do better next time. All the best.

β β β β β βEscapeβ couldnβt be a more fitting word for this place.
Unfortunately the experience fell short of expectation. The restaurant is beautiful and alluring, the menu reflects the ornate feel especially with the prices (averaging $26 for a starter, $32 mains and $20 desserts!). We were expecting to be impressed with the food.
BUT The food was bland and boring. We had the Sizzling prawns. They came out (only 6) simmering in a broth with only one unshelled tiger prawn the rest were the frozen variety from the supermarket. The mussels were big and juicy so 5 stars there but the sauce was a broth and lacked flavour. The mains fish n chips was ok, nothing special tho considering the price. The side salad wasnβt appealing and was served with a dressing which looked and tasted like gravy! The Coq Au Vin was average, apparently the chef had worked in France, disappointing.
We didnβt bother with dessert due to the previous dishes (if the price hadnβt put us off enough)
Not Value For Money. Sorry folks, very disappointing restaurant in Picton.
Ps staff was ok.

β β β β β Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Nice interior and service was excellent. An outside enclosed courtyard could be an alfresco option. Would certainly recommend this place for lunch. Bookings are essential.

β β β β β It's just terrible i will never recommend this to anyone.
Totally over priced and the quality of food was very poor .
This restaurant really needs to change their structure starting with good quality produce and a Chef
that can create a realistic menu that will be of quality and creativity.
The wait staff were not very professional in a restaurant that charges these prices.
When a restaurant charges you top restaurant prices
you expect a good experience and this restaurant doesn't have what it takes.
my recommendation to the owner is that you don't try to be something you're not .
This restaurant is misleading as the decor and lighting lure you in but it' doesn't deliver the goods.

β β β β β Had a beautiful meal this evening. Came through for my partner's birthday and it could not of been more special. I had the Surf and Turf and my partner the chicken, both were stunning. Staff were amazing. Even put a candle in our dessert. Lovely evening.
