★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We visited Lochmara as a day trip in early January. The place itself is very scenic, but I found some of the restaurant staff members pretty rude and unapologetic. One of the girls literally banged the plate of food on the table, and when some of the tomatoes and fries rolled off the plate and onto the table, she made no effort to try and retrieve them, saw what happened, blank face, and departed back to the kitchen without a word.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had an excellent room with fantastic views. Staff were wonderful and food delicious. It was a lovely setting and was a pity we only stopped overnight during the Queen Charlotte walk.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were looking forward to staying here after a friend's recommendation. We booked in for 1 night as part of a luxury treat on QC track. The setting is beautiful and the lounging areas are really nice and relaxing. I think the restaurant lets the place down, the menu options are quite limited (especially for vegetarians) and the portion sizes are very small especially given the price of the meals. I wondered if my main meal (which covered about 30% of the plate) was a one off but the staff informed me that it was the standard portion sizes unfortunately. Understandably this is a place you can come and unwind, and disconnect and there is no phone signal as you'd expect. The hotel has WiFi but is only switched on at night time and it drops off every minute or so. Unfortunately there was a helicopter delivery to the site next door which made for a very disruptive afternoon at the resort, you couldn't hear the person next to you or the waiter in the cafe. It went on for 3 hours without so much as any communication from the staff that this was happening. I know it's out of their control and it needed doing but I think most of us would have appreciated a heads up that this was happening and we would have planned the day differently i.e. arrived later or gone out for a walk etc.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We used to love popping in for a drink and an afternoon out during summer. This time we found that the food was overpriced and just ok. Being in the Sounds it would have been nice to have more seafood options (also bring back the old platters). We won't be rushing back if things stay the same. Also the toilets were absolutely disgusting.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The location is amazing, weather was brilliant, facility fabulous. The price of the food was astounding and not in a good way. Fine dining prices and very small portions, except the beef!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed for a couple of nights and had a great time paddle boarding, swimming, relaxing, drinking cocktails and walking up to the view point. It was awesome to see the staff checking vaccine passes so that we could feel comfortable being there. Recommend for a lovely weekend away.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our group of five dined in the restaurant Fri 21st Jan '22. The quality of the food was impeccable. They were the best meals we had all experienced for ages. Service was friendly, seamless and efficient. The chef kindly accommodated a small menu change. Wines were excellent. We ate the mussels, vegetarian, steaks, salmon fish, plus. A faultless evening! Thank you.
