★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Unable to contact by phone at 10am on a Thursday morning. I just want to talk to someone from Europcar who is in New Zealand and this seems to be almost impossible. I get very wary of customer service that consists of "you'll have to send an email..." There just isn't anyone in this country to actually talk to it seems. The 0800 numbers are for reservations and are answered offshore and only about 75% understandable. I'm not needing to know about reservations, just what I am entitled to as a Prestige Elite member of the loyalty programme. And that seems to difficult. Strange way to treat loyal customers...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Terrible experience renting with Europcar, will avoid this sham of a company at all cost in future. Absolutely despicable service with incompetent staff who seemed to take joy in harassing what could have been a loyal customer for $412 over a fabricated scratch that they alleged I put on their hubcap, despite having no proof. Would rate 0 stars if I could.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Car wasn’t ready when we arrived, so it was taken and given a 5 minute clean. Which isn’t enough as it still had rubbish in it.
The insurance fee is never up front, but you can usually find it online (not at Europcar). For our car it was $39 extra per day. So it effectively doubled the rental rate.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They tried to sell insurance while I already have insurance for car because I booked their car by Qeeq. I already asked the receptionist that I don’t want to buy more insurance but they still charged my money for insurance.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Literally the best rental car experience I've had in my LIFE. Saffron was the best, kindest, nicest, sweetest person, AND we dealt with her on both Xmas and NY day. She was cheerful and upbeat while working those holidays, and she made our trip start and end on such a great, positive note. She made us feel important and heard, and she was an absolutely delight to work with. She gave us a great car, getting us out on the road so quickly. And when we returned the car, she was amazing and remembered us, and asked about our trip. If we lived there, we'd want her as a friend. Can't rec this rental more highly, and I hope you get help from Saffron!
