★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I can not believe that I just walked into this ‘professional medical practice’ and was treated with such hostility, sarcasm and condesending reception staff.
I am a UK citizen here on a valid working visa, and have been suffering from a severe illness over the last 5 days
I was trying to avoid seeking medical care as I do not like to waste doctors valuable time, making sure others an be seen that need to be prioritised before me. Now I felt I had no other option as id been advised to seek medical help, I work with livestock so it could be a very serious issue.
The ladies behind reception were not shy in telling me how annoyed at my boss they were for sending me to them in the first place, she was annoyed at me for not telling her my visa was an EVisa and not in my passsport so I ‘wasted her time’ as she flicked through my passport for all of 30 seconds. She then told me if I had ‘dragged myself out of bed’ before 2:10pm and came earlier maybe she could have got me an appointment, seemingly forgetting that I had just told her moments earlier how I’ve been bed ridden for over 5 days, if dragging myself out of bed was a feasible option I would have been at work and not asking for her help.
Exasperated at her attitude and unprofessional work manner, I asked for my passport back and told her ‘thanks for nothing’ to which she sarcastically replied ‘you’re very welcome’ as I left he medical centre untreated and without an appointment.
Now, if I could play the whole situation out again I would admittedly do things differently and with more patience. Although this lady is supposed to be serving the community with a medical service, I have been ill for nearly 1 week, ill enough to seek her help and assistance. I may have handled the situation better but it is this ladies job to serve people face to face with a proffessional manner day in day out and ensure they are seen to if necessary.
This makes me feel fortunate that I am from the UK where our medical services are free to anyone who needs assistance and we are always welcomed with a friendly, welcoming and helpful face when it is needed most.
