★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great track and well worth the effort but I wouldn't attempt it if you are moderately unfit. Be aware weather wise as the track is incredibly muddy/slippery in patches and water through caves will rise.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sadly we never got to go through caves, as it was very muddy to walk up/down parts of track in or out, with no head torches either. Beautiful walk none the less, so will definitely be back to try again someday aswell as going to the limestone arches

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a must see when in Karamea! Amazing long caves with fascinating formations, glow worms included and it’s free! This track is not well maintained - be prepared for trees fallen over the track, some rock scrambling and some serious mud patches! Highly recommend proper hiking boots and of course a good head lamp is a must for inside the caves. There are several markers on the track to keep you going in the right direction.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The walk in on the bridle path is excellent. It is a credit to the old time surveyors who made such a long track on an easy and constant gradient. The "track" around and through the caves is a steep and slippery scramble in and out of boggy gullies and over fallen trees. We got about 1/3 of the way through Tunnel cave and gave up when confronted with a steep and slippery waterfall that we weren't prepared to risk climbing down. (one of two or three). If you have caving experience, or are young, fit and agile I'm sure it would not be a problem. Torch essential, hard-hat useful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great walkbut make sure you can do muddy and tree root covered paths! Some steep and tricky places to cover but going through the tunnel back to the track is fab! Make sure you take you take head torch not a phone torch as you need both hands to climb up beside the waterfall!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 40 minutes walk to the cave but not be able to get out and join the main track, so same way back to he car park.
Glow worms is a bonus. Wonderful for explorers.
Miner's headlight real handy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Truely terrifying. But fun. Probably shouldnt have done it on my own but survived with just a grazed knee. I had seen a suggestion that best done clockwise. To do that you need to ignore the first sign you get to and go into the loop at the second sign..that way your climbing the steep bit in the middle of the cave not falling down it like i did. The track was incredible lots of fun though quite challenging.
