★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rude! We popped in for a quick bite after sampling the wines in the vicinity and upon being seated we told the man “we were on a time crunch” (just letting him know). His response was to throw his arms in the air and basically walk off. So we walked out. I mean he could have just explained what dishes he could muster to accomodate our needs. Just rude.
We walked out and down the road and won’t be back
UPDATE: Reply from owners is incorrect. We said we had around 30 minutes to dine and then needed to be off and back in CHCH by 3pm. The gruff and impatient “waiter” was outright rude and had he bothered to listen instead of throwing his arms in the air and storming off it might have been a different outcome. Hospitality huh? We subsequently stopped in Amberley at the Nor’ Wester and they happily made my wife and I a very tasty risotto (from scratch) in 10mins. Maybe you could learn from them? .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice winery with pleasant staff but we felt the lunch meals were overpriced for what we had. $45 for a small blue cod fillet on a pile of rice with 2 slices of carrot, 1 broccoli flower it and two small cauliflower florets which was quite flavourless. Wont rush back

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely winery. Butter was too hard go spread on bread. Fish under seasoned but great batter. Took a while to sort out our bill even though we only ordered 2 mains and a bottle of wine.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The menu sounded exciting. However, the food was reheated leftovers from few days ago. The meat was still cold and vegetables completely dehydrated. The price tag is equivalent to high grade restaurant yet food is worse than a backstreet soup kitchen.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A little disappointing. My husband and I opted not to freedom camp here as it was over priced at $40 when we could camp at another winery not far away for $0.
The food were lovely, but we never got offered the glasses of bubbles advertised if mains were purchased over Waitangi weekend. When we mentioned this it was still not offered and the wife was blamed for not offering this.
We choose to have a $10 wine tasting each, before purchasing a glass of wine to have with dinner, but when we purchased a bottle to also take away, one of the tastings was not credited, which we found an unusual practice to other wineries.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Outstanding food & wine. Canterbury sirloin was cooked to perfection. Wonderful service from the owners. We were made to feel very welcome. Definitely going back for a return visit.
Plus they offer a shuttle service to/from Chch.

We had the lamb rack and scallops. They were delicious. My scallops were also cooked with pork belly, which is nice too.
We would come back next time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Splendid duck with orange sauce, the zest and orange slice were a delightful combination (perfect for a future dessert, perhaps?). The vegetables were perfectly steamed, but for the price I'd have expected at least twice as many! That tiny amount was truly shocking.
The path to the bathroom is cramped when busy. There are few windows on the second floor to admire the view from, but pleasant interior makes up for it. Good service. The menus are printed on bare paper, not even laminated, which is odd and impractical.
